Generally Mr Kipling mince pies are exeedingly average and very little change from year to year. However, this year, I noticed that Good Housekeeping have given their stamp of approval. Given that its been 6 years since i reviewed this mince pie. I felt it was time they had another shot.
Lets see how it looks,
The pastry here is better than i expected. It's crumbly, buttery but a little on the dry side. As for the mincemeat, this is where it remains very average. The pie is half filled with a paste-like mush of a filling. It's not too sweet and you do get the odd raisin or sultana but, thats about all you can taste. Very disappointing as the pastry was quite promising.
