We're slowly seeing the rise of regular food but, made entirely from plants. I have to admit, the plant based burgers are remarkably tasty and are a great environmentally friendly alternative. I'm not sure just how environmentally unfriendly the humble mince pie is but, lets see if Tesco are on to a winner. Today we're doing it for the vegans.
Lets see how it looks:Just don't bother with these. Avid readers of the blog (just me?) will know that any mince pie where the lid sits in the middle and not over the edges are ones to avoid and these, unfortunately, are no different. The pastry has the texture and structure of a sandcastle with a little bit of water to bind it together. The moment you start to chew it just disintegrates into mulch. Seriously under-baked. Tastes like it has potential though.
As for the mincemeat, its generally absent from the mince pie and what is left is dry and generally quite tasteless.
If you are a vegan and reading this, sorry. Go have a Greggs mince pie instead. They are vegan and actually decent.
