2020 - Tesco Finest - Spiced Rum Mince Pies

I've been keen to try all the alternative takes on the regular mince pie this year and so a trip to Tesco to see what they had to offer lead to me finding these spiced rum filled. While I much prefer whiskey, I do tend to enjoy a nice spiced rum and coke every now and again. Hopefully these are better than the Tesco Plant Chef mince pies.

2020 - Tesco - Plant Chef Mince Pies

We're slowly seeing the rise of regular food but, made entirely from plants. I have to admit, the plant based burgers are remarkably tasty and are a great environmentally friendly alternative. I'm not sure just how environmentally unfriendly the humble mince pie is but, lets see if Tesco are on to a winner. Today we're doing it for the vegans.

Next up we have Tesco's finest*. It hasn't always been the finest in the strict definition of the word - I've always wondered where the asterisk next to the finest links to... but I digress. Lets see where this years' entry fit in.

Tesco 6 Christmas Mince Pies

We seem to be getting through the big supermarket mince pies rather quickly this year. Our next stop on the mince pie express is Tesco. My most accessible Tesco is one of their express stores, but it is not these stores (shockingly) that have started stocking mince pies. At the time of writing this, I could only find their mince pies in the larger branches. Not sure why this the case, but lets hope my drive to their larger branch was actually worth it.

Tesco have been rather uninspiring with their mince pies this year. I'm hoping the Finest range is the game changer - after all, they have brought in Courvoisier to add that bit of quality to the pie.

Tesco have never really impressed with their mince pie range in previous years - they have trotted along with what feels like a "follow the pack" mentality. I hope this year is different and we see a stand out pie from them.
