Aldi, I nearly forgot Aldi! Frequent winners of the decent mince pie contest by other mince pie reviewers, its time to see what they have. I have picked up these blood orange crumble mince pies as they looked interesting. Yes, i'm back on the alternative mince pie reviews.
I felt I needed a little bit of grounding after spending the last few reviews sampling all the various takes on the regular mince pie. It's time to review a standard tranditional mince pie. Sainsburys taste the difference is up next.
Hot on the heels of the rum filled Tesco finest mince pies we have Sainsburys' rum, pineapple and coconut mince pies. Now, I know there are people in this world that would happily cause significant harm to those that put pineapple on pizza's. I think I now know how you feel. I'm not so sure about the pineapple.
I've been keen to try all the alternative takes on the regular mince pie this year and so a trip to Tesco to see what they had to offer lead to me finding these spiced rum filled. While I much prefer whiskey, I do tend to enjoy a nice spiced rum and coke every now and again. Hopefully these are better than the Tesco Plant Chef mince pies.
Generally Mr Kipling mince pies are exeedingly average and very little change from year to year. However, this year, I noticed that Good Housekeeping have given their stamp of approval. Given that its been 6 years since i reviewed this mince pie. I felt it was time they had another shot.

We're slowly seeing the rise of regular food but, made entirely from plants. I have to admit, the plant based burgers are remarkably tasty and are a great environmentally friendly alternative.
